The closest airport to Ghent is Brussels Zaventem, located 60 kilometers away and less than an hour by public transport from the city center. How to get from Brussels to Ghent by train

Taking a train to Ostend from Zaventem airport or any of the 3 Brussels stations is the fastest option to get to Ghent.
If you land in Zaventem you have trains with a frequency of about 20 minutes that will leave you at the Ghent (Gent-Sint-Pieters) station in an hour for about 14 euros although you have to take into account that two direct trains leave per hour to Ghent and in the others you have to change at the Brussels South Station.

If you are staying in Brussels we recommend you first follow this guide on how to get from Brussels airport to the center and then take a direct train to Ghent from any of the stations in the Belgian capital.
These trains have a frequency of 15 minutes and make the transfer from Brussels to Ghent in 40 minutes for about 9 euros, since the fee of 5 euros from the airport does not apply.
As a tip and to save up to 50% on the price of train tickets, we advise you to travel on the weekend or buy the Go Pass 10 for people under 26 for 50 euros or the Rail Pass for people over 26 years for 80 euros, which are 10-ticket tickets that are not personal and can be used by several people at once.

How to get to Ghent from Brussels by bus

If you land at Charleroi airport you will have to take one of the buses that leave every half hour first and will take you to Brussels Midi station in one hour for about 14 euros, provided you book it in advance on this page.
To travel by bus from Brussels to Ghent you can use the Flixbus company that takes an hour and leaves for about 6 euros.
