HOUSESITTING-TIME: WAIUKU

It seems that we had already taken the pulse of the housesitting because as soon as another opportunity to take care of a house came out we did not let it escape ... if the winter kiwi is more bearable with chiminea and a good warm jacuzzi!

So we arrived at the house of Fenella and John, an Anglo-South African couple where we would stop from September 10 until October 10.

Here we live with two cats, or rather one, since Ginger saw her very little (she is a kitten who likes the march very much and passed by the house very rarely to eat and to have a ration, tiny, of mimitos ). The one we saw a lot was Sophie, the most homemade cat in history, who left home only when "nature is calling" and was a little crazy, really ... that's why we liked it even more!

But the story does not end here: we also had two ducks that came and went as they pleased, 5 chickens and 8 sheep!

At the beginning we were a little worried: how are we going to take care of sheep if we never saw one more than 10 meters away ... but the truth, taking care of sheep is as easy as giving them food and leaving them to their roll! Lety fell in love with the ugliest sheep in the world, her little face looked like a mix between a cross-eyed sheep, an alpaca and the devil, and Rober had the odd encounter with the group's bastard: the sheep dad who can't stand another male Alpha in your territory.

During this month we explore the Waiuku area, to the south of Auckland, with its infinite black beaches and its fish & chips at $ 5 (thank you!) And take full advantage of the last hot tub of the trip (a jacuzzi a day is the remedy to all evils) and the wifi of the house: we started a book about Paris that (almost) is finished and we did something very kiwi: barbecues ... mmm that delicious barbecues we stick in the garden of the house of Fenella!

Not to mention the "polpettoni" we prepare in the oven (not suitable for vegetarians). We left the house with a high addiction to the jacuzzi, with a couple of extra kilos and with another great housesitting experience: the family and the animals turned out to be very nice and we already know that yes our housesitting experience in NZ there may be finished ... in Europe we will try to do it again: we would love to take care of small houses in Portugal, southern France, Italy, Greece and Turkey ... who knows!

We use several websites to find houses, but the one we recommend is www.trustedhousesitters.com that serves everyone. The price is € 89, the best invested of your trip! And if you register through this link, you have a20% discount!
