The Trastevere is one of the most beautiful and charming neighborhoods in Rome, although it is true that we do not find the best place to stay (logistically there are others, such as Monti, where being “closer to everything”), you also have to recognize that a visit to Rome without going through the Trastevere at least once would be a sacrilege in the Holy Land! And one of the things that are most enjoyed in this neighborhood is gastronomy. That's why today we are going to recommend you 6 restaurants to eat in the Trastevere (good and cheap).

It is one of the best restaurants to try one of the more typical dishes from Rome: the cacio and pepe pasta (a type of cheese and pepper) that they serve in a pan (the ration is big). Although the other proposals are very rich, such as carciofi alla giudia (Jewish style artichokes, fried). But come on ... I would ask for cacio e pepe (or other pasta) hehe. Prices: cacio e pepe costs € 8.5, € 5 artichokes. It also has a perfect terrace on the street if it's a good day! But be careful because it gets full, we arrived around 1:00 pm and there were almost no tables left.

It is a place full of personality, something old perhaps, but right there comes its charm. The menu is not very extensive (there are mostly antipasti, pasta and pinsa, the Roman pizza) and we recommend you try just one pinsa. They serve it on wooden boards and if you are two you can share one and chop something else (or order a plate of pasta, for example). Average price per person: € 10-13. Another positive point is the staff: they are very nice and professional. Perfect for a casual dinner or a appetizer in the heart of Trastevere.

It is one of the most beloved restaurants in Trastevere and one of the oldest (It was opened in the 19th century!). If you like the sites they propose simple, traditional and homemade food, this restaurant will not disappoint you. Try the coda there vaccinara (oxtail stewed in tomato) or amatriciana pasta and carbonara.

Another great classic of Trastevere, with a concept quite similar to Tonnarello (in fact they also present the pastas in pans hehe, I'm not sure but I would swear that the owners are the same). Here are the super recommended pasta. If you have not done so, try the rigatoni to the amatriciana, a delight! Average price per person: € 10-13.

A trattoria of the lifelong ones, where to eat in tranquility while you breathe the trasteverino air (literally… there is little terrace!) Here the ideal is to take a couple of antipasti (you can't miss the fried zucchini flower, € 3) and conclude with a plate of Roman meatballs (in tomato sauce), € 12. Average price per person: € 12-15.

Do you prefer catch something fast to eat and maybe enjoy it sitting on some small plates of the Trastevere or on the banks of the Tiber? Then La Boccaccia is the perfect place since you can buy cut pizzas in take away plan. There's a € 5 menu quite interesting, with which you can choose 3 different types of pizzitas (they are of those squares, similar to the focaccia). There are various ingredients, including a few vegetarian options.
