A few days ago we had the pleasure of living a fabulous evening in the Café de la Pedrera and we coincide with one of the most interesting events of the Café: the “soup and month“, An experience that unites live music and delicious cuisine. So while the young Catalan musician Bernat Font played the piano, we were discovering a few dishes and tapas that delicious. But it is worth the spoilers: let us tell you something more about the place before.

The Café de la Pedrera is located on the mezzanine floor of the Mila House and has a huge window that looks towards Passeig de Gracia, one of the modernist enclaves of the city of Barcelona. Everything is decorated following these same modernist patterns, although what caught our attention the most was the corrugated roof which imitates a sea with its waves seen from the bottom and the walls of the Pedrera. A preciousness.

East Historic premises opened over a hundred years ago and every corner is full of personality and elegance. Contrary to what you might think it is quite affordable: the menu, which includes starters, tapas, main courses and sandwiches, has an average price of € 15. There are also several menu options, for example the one of tapas (€ 25) or the one we tried, which for € 30 consists of a tasting menu with several very rich and original dishes that fuse Catalan cuisine with ethnic influences.

Are you hungry? Great, because we are going to tell you toooodo what we have eaten!

The menu consisted of 7 dishes (2 starters, 2 first, 1 main and 2 desserts plus cava). They are fair portions but the truth is that we left very satisfied:

The starters were bouillabesse in two steps Y keep caprese. The first was in a glass of seafood cream to which we had to add a super tasty fish broth. Very, very rich. We had never tried it and found it delicious. The presentation, as we will see throughout the dinner, impeccable.

The preserves capresa Very good too, presented on a plate reminiscent of canned cans, it was a tomato salad, mozzarella and tuna belly bathed in pesto. And, word of Italian, the pesto was very rich: delicate and full of flavor.

After a while they brought us first courses: cochinita aao bread Beijing Y monkfish cheek. The first is very curious: it was a steamed muffin, stuffed with a sweet and sour spicy touch and a slice of apple. For a second we moved to China * _ *

The monkfish carcass is also very rich, tempered and bathed in olive oil, very tender and tasty.

Between talks, Bernat's music and a few laughs with our friend Soufi, it was time to try the second coursecurried pages chicken raviolo, another perfect example of Catalan fusion with ethnic cuisine. In this case we moved to the streets of Bangkok, since the curry sauce with its spicy touch, left no doubt ... we had the taste of Thailand in the middle of Passeig de Gracia!

Each dinner should always end with a toast and a good dessert (and if the desserts are two, well, much better!). And so it was: the first thing we tried was a shot of pina colada, a pineapple mousse with coconut jelly in the background. Cool and refreshing. The other dessert conquered us by its presentation: the textures of Ferrero Roches, an exquisite chocolate cream, is served in a funny "porcelain eggs". No doubt an original and fun cover.

A glass of cava put the finishing touch to a great evening and we left there delighted with life since it was not only a dinner, it was a real experience!

If you plan to visit Barcelona and want to live an original and unforgettable dinner, if you have a romantic date, a working lunch or just want to meet a local that is part of the history of Barcelona... well, don't think about it! The service was also impeccable, professional and very friendly. Come on, 100% recommended, we will come back 🙂
