¿What to see and do in Miami? With this question we landed, the day of the independence of the United States, in the airport of this city of Florida. If we prepare the first part of our trip through the United States well, the second (from Route 66 onwards) was quite improvised. And yes, we arrived in Miami without knowing what awaited us. Well, the truth is that something very cool was waiting for us: Nancy, one of Lety's best friends and her husband Ronald who, like us, met in Padova 🙂

Sometimes it is cool to travel without much programming: the surprise is going to be infinitely greater! Although the risk of missing a few interesting things is there ... so there you 🙂

In this post we will recommend you 25 things to see and do in Miami. Do we start

1. The first thing you should do is take a dip in the turquoise waters of South beach, the paradise of Miami.

2. And make you a summer inn, which would envy Ana Obregón herself, in the lifeguards' houses, super colorful and art deco style.

3. Get lost by him Art Deco District, full of buildings set in the 1920s. Tip: do not miss this night area, when it lights up with thousands of neon colors.

4. If you want to do shopping do not miss the Bayside Marketplace, where there are more than 100 stores and a few restaurants to refuel.

5. Ok, it's not New York or Chicago, but Miami also has a few skyscrapers and stroll through Downtown With the nose up is one of the things to do in Miami!

6. One of the most interesting areas of Miami is the eighth Street, better known as "Little havana”, Of Cuban ambient, with its cigar shops and authentic restaurants. Tip: if you want to know all the “contrasts” of Miami, a good idea is to take this tour.

7. And speaking of this… don't forget to try a Cuban sandwich in the Versailles coffee.

8. Go spend the day at Key Biscayne, an islet a few kilometers away from Miami.

9. If you are going to be in Miami for a few days, we recommend you do some excursion. The best is that of the Keys, the southernmost point of the United States and a small paradise for lovers of tropical beaches. If you only want transportation, this bus tour is affordable (only € 24 per person i / v)

10. The other star excursion is that of the Everglades National Park, a swampy area, natural habitat of American crocodiles! So no, bathing there is not a good idea. If you do not have a car you can watch this tour that includes a ride on a hydrofoil and view of the caiman is the cheapest we saw: € 25!

By the way, here we tell you what are the best excursions from Miami.

11. If you travel with children we advise you to visit the Miami Children's Museum, super interactive and entertaining.

12. You are in Florida and this means that you can fulfill one of the dreams of your childhood (and adolescence and adulthood): go to Disneyworld Orlando *__*

13. And you can also go toUniversal Studios, your bank account will return home in red numbers but you have been waiting for this moment a lifetime ... you will save on return XD

14. Walk through Ocean drive, among skaters, skateboarders and, hopefully, you can see some famous (or famous). We are not interested in Victor Sandoval, we are not interested.

15. If the street art roll is cool, don't forget to visit Wynwood, one of our favorite areas of Miami. Here you will find meters and meters of murals, urban art and cool galleries, and a few cafeterias and modernillos.

Tired? You can, you have a few things to see and do in Miami ... cheer up!

16. You can also visit the Miami Art Museum (PAMM), the Institute of Contemporary Art and the Contemporary Art Museum (MOCHA). Guaranteed art overdose 🙂

17. If instead you prefer to surround yourself with green, a good option is to go to Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden, full of exotic plants. It costs $ 25, auch.

18. One of the most famous mansions in Miami is the Villa Vizcaya, a 3-story casoplon with which you will want even more to win the lottery (although pouf, with the same money you can travel the rest of your days, uh ... think about it before investing the millions!).

19. Come to spend an afternoon at Little haiti, a neighborhood very different from the rest of the city.

20. One of the most magical moments of each place is the sunset, in Miami go enjoy it walking through the Bayfront park.

21. If you want to visit a less touristy area, visit the neighborhood (or rather the independent city) of Coral gables. We stayed here and could "live" a few days in a super authentic area.

22. Do not leave Coral Gablse without approaching the famous Venetian Pool, an enoooooorme pool, where you will not be able to resist the temptation of a refreshing bath.

23. Go to Domino park from Little Havana and see how Cubans enjoy this game. If you dare they let you play (although you will lose almost certainly).

24. Head over Coconut groove, one of the quietest and most beautiful areas of Miami.

25. If you have no budget problems, consider doing a 4-day Bahamas cruise. Actually they are not too expensive (you find them from € 130 + fees). If your budget is not enough but you want to live the experience of seeing Miami from the water, you can take rides from € 8 or pirate boat trips XD for about € 23

:: Where to sleep in Miami?

As we anticipate, we booked a very handsome apartment with Wimdu. We stayed in the Coral Gables area, the only negative point is that, having no car and being somewhat inefficient public transportation in Miami, it took us a long time to get downtown. The good thing is that Uber works very well 🙂

If you are going to be a few days we advise you to stay better in South Beach. On the same page of Wimdu there was a very good offer for a room in a residential, right in front of the beach.

:: How to get around Miami?

Miami has no subway, so it compensates for this lack with a public transport system formed by urban buses (Metrobus), with many lines and covering many areas of the city; the elevated train (Metrorail), with two lines that cross Miami from north to south; and a kind of trams (Metromover) that move around the center and are free!

We almost always moved with Uber. Transfers from Coral Gables to Downton cost us about $ 12. You can make an account with this invitation and get a discount of up to € 20 on your first race.
